I want to congratulate all of our Einstein@Home volunteers, developers, and scientists: our project is 20 years old today. We officially launched Einstein@Home on February 19th 2005, exactly 20 years ago, at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in Washington DC.
Since that time, almost half a million people have contributed computing power to Einstein@Home. Einstein@Home carries out the most sensitive searches for continuous gravitational waves, and continues to set the tightest and most stringent limits on this yet-to-be-discovered population. We have discovered more than 90 new radio and gamma ray pulsars, including a number of extreme and exotic examples. The project has resulted in 38 peer-reviewed publications in scientific journals, and has also played a role in a dozen PhD theses.
A big thank you to everyone involved!

Thank you, and congratulations for sticking with our project for two decades!
Please, could you take a photo of yourself with your certificate, post it on the web somewhere, and stick a link here? I'd like to see that.

Thank you Bruce for all your hard work. It's much appreciated.
My uncle in law, Doug Lean from Australia was one of the few who helped find a new pulsar. He's the reason I got into Einstein@Home.
I'm always trying to promote our fantastic team BOINC@Australia. These are people I've known online for 13 years crunching away at Einstein@Home but yet none of us have ever met. In fact when my sister had breast cancer, people in my team from Australia and abroad (shout out Dataman!) donated to her Gofund Me page in her time of need.
The generosity of this ... BOINC bond (I guess you could call it) was amazing! A fine example of humanity
Well run projects like Einstein@Home have been a real champion of what it takes to be a great BOINC project. Recognition, reliability, regular updates. It just runs.
This hobby comes with it's pitfalls though. Trying to explain to my wife why I need 5 or 8 pc's running at 100% 24/7 absolutely SMASHING our power bill and (from her perspective) we get nothing in return. It's worse than crypto mining!! LOL.
Those arguments have been great over the years :) Electricity is a killer though. :(
BOINC is very niche to people I've tried to explain it to. Some get it, some don't. TBA without the ranking system, I probably would have given up crunching years ago.
So on behalf of myself and all the team at BOINC@AUSTRALIA, happy 20th birthday and thank you.
Crunch on brothers & sisters!
Happy Birthday!
