The wife and granddaughter recently added a gray tabby to our home. Our major problem is that he looks exactly like the cat we had to leave behind when I retired in 2018 and moved to our retirement home. That means that, although we gave him a different name than the previous cat, we frequently call the new cat by the old cat's name.
LOL!!

Alright folks...six days since the last post...lets get some chatter out there or this might be the last TLPTPW thread!
Yesterday morning it was in the 40's F here at the beach, today it's in the 60's, Friday it's supposed to go down back into the 30's in the morning again...I'm ready for Spring!!!
Yesterday morning it was in the 40's F here at the beach, today it's in the 60's, Friday it's supposed to go down back into the 30's in the morning again...I'm ready for Spring!!!
On Groundhog day (Sunday) it was 75F here. By Wednesday the high was 33F and about 3 inches of snow on the ground...mostly gone by Friday. Today will be cloudy with a high of 46F while tomorrow will have a high of 36F and rain (no snow).
I brought in the neighbors cat one night and he watched the mice run in front of his eyes and did NOTHING AT ALL!!
I blame Tom and Jerry, Mikey.Totally demotivational. Mine for example, retreat to a high surface, and then do nothing at all. Mind-boggling... truly jaw-dropping. Cats were never like that before Hanna and Barbera. Not even remotely.
Speaking of insidious DNA damage...
*I watched a film the other day. Part of February's "Armageddon Afternoons" Season. On TV. I don't usually do that during daylight hours *l-o-n-g, psychotic blink at einsteinians*
...but my mother-in-law had rung and suddenly, there it was... about to start... and I knew there wasn't a single thing I'd want um...enjoy more.
No. Anyway :) Just as it was finishing, a neighbour had a rage-meltdown. Right there in the middle of the street.
I expect they'd watched the same film.
*frank eyebrows, and post elsewhere on face* because if I hadn't been pasted with cats, I wouldn't have made it to the end either and would have joined them.
Seriously, by far the absolute worst thing I think I have ever seen. It didn't even manage to be good by virtue of how bad it was, it was that bad... so if you get a chance to see it, don't. Just... don't.

Awwww :) I've got a cat naming problem too, although mine is more that she doesn't have one at all. After six weeks advertising her as "found" with no one claiming her, despite a number of hopeful, heartbroken owners turning up to see if this dark tortoiseshell is their dark tortoiseshell, - some from really far away - nothing.
Please wait here. Further instructions could pile up at any time. Thank you.

Okay, so it's established that Noname the Cat has found you. Now it's time to name her and what better place to name a cat than TLPTPW #63! The winning submission gets a new host PC, custom-built to the winner's specifications (to be assembled and shipped by Anniet). Enter as often as you like! Here are my suggestions:
Shelly
The Dark Lord (or, informally, Lordy)
Einsteinette
Perdita
Hanna
Barbara
Ideas are not fixed, nor should they be; we live in model-dependent reality.

In Annie's case PC may mean Pretty Chocolate. Which reminds Chocolate might be a fine name. But more flippantly:
Torta
Frito
Nacho
Chip(er)
Taco
Burrito
Foundling
LASER
Holly

I think Turtle for the hair color is a good one, also won't be confused by a persons name in emergencies. It's bad when your house is on fire and the firefighter asks the owner if anyone is inside and they 'yes Charlie is still in there' and you go looking for a human child named "Charlie" and then find out it was a cat.

Along those lines, maybe it wasn't such a good idea to name our gray tabby Smokey... Imagine staggering out of a burning house and gasping to the firefighter: Smokey--in there!
